Molecular Hydrogen (H₂)

Grade B — Real selective antioxidant biology; small RCTs are positive, large-cohort data is missing.

The evidence

Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is a selective antioxidant that scavenges hydroxyl and peroxynitrite radicals while leaving signaling-required ROS intact. Small RCTs show metabolic-syndrome marker improvements, exercise-recovery gains, and emerging cognitive signals.

Delivery route matters. Inhalation delivers higher systemic H₂ concentrations than hydrogen water alone, and is the route used in most clinical-grade protocols. We lead with two inhalation units below; the two hydrogen-water options follow for users who prefer a drinking platform or want a portable adjunct. SPE / PEM membrane engineering is the credible standard across both routes; older platinum-electrode pitchers and magnesium-tablet methods produce lower, less stable H₂.

Kosher Evidence Card
Halacha — Shabbat
Activating the electrolysis circuit is a melacha. Pre-activated water in a thermos for Shabbat consumption may be acceptable — confirm with your rav.
Halacha — Yom Tov
Same as Shabbat.
Choleh Status
Use as primary therapy for a serious indication is not yet supported by the trial base; choleh framing does not apply to general use.
Clinic Notes
N/A — home device.
Test Before Use
No specific medical pre-test required. Confirm device produces measured H₂ (look for third-party PPM data).
Ask Your Rav About

FAQ

Inhalation vs. hydrogen water — which should I use?

Inhalation delivers higher systemic H₂ concentrations than drinking hydrogen water and is the route used in most clinical-grade protocols. A drinking platform is fine as an adjunct or for users who prefer a non-equipment route. Many users run inhalation for 30–60 minute sessions and drink generated water through the day.

Pitcher vs. bottle vs. tablet — what produces real H₂?

SPE / PEM membrane electrolysis is the current credible standard for both inhalation units and water generators. Older platinum-pitcher devices and magnesium-tablet methods produce lower, less stable H₂ levels.

How quickly does H₂ leave the water?

Within 1–2 hours in open containers, faster in a glass. Sealed pressurized containers hold for 12+ hours. Drink soon after generation for full dose.

Is Brown’s Gas the same as molecular hydrogen?

Brown’s Gas is a mixed-gas output (H₂ + O₂ together) produced by some electrolyzers including the AquaCure. Pure-H₂ inhalation units like the Promolife use separated gas streams. Both routes deliver H₂ systemically; users who want H₂ alone choose the separated-stream design.
